Who would have thought that the best burgers in Wisconsin would be tucked away in Shorewood. Truly one of the best burgers my husband and I have had in a while and reminded us of our favorite burgers in Washington DC area (Best Damn Burger). If you’re looking to satisfy a burger craving I would not think twice to try this place. We drove up from Illinois and will gladly drive the one hour back when the craving hits again. The burgers taste just as good as they look and are cooked to a perfect medium rare. The topping selections pair nicely and the fries are perfectly seasoned and super crispy. We are already planning our next trip back.

Amazing food. The Cajun fries were hot and amazing. My wife had a burger that was juicy and delicious. I had the pork katsu and it was so flavorful with the slaw and sauce on it and a perfectly cooked bun. We will definitely be back for more.

If you need a break from smash burgers, this is the joint. There’s minimal seating inside the restaurant, but the burger is just excellent. Definitely one of the best, if not the best, in Milwaukee. I mean just look at the picture of their cheeseburger.

Food was excellent. Great choices for burgers and fries. Small place with very few seats, but easy to take out. We didn't get a welcome or smiles inside, but it's easy to order on the menu monitor.

Great burgers and fries and big portions at a reasonable price. Came here with my son and I didn't pay attention to the note that all burgers are cooked to medium unless otherwise requested. When I cut his burger in half and it was pink I asked them to cook it longer and they just made him a totally new one right away. No one argued or made me feel bad for it and he absolutely loved his burger. We will for sure be back!

Just wanted to make a note that as of April 2026, this place is still legit. Great, solid burgers. It is still more of a pick-up place rather than a sit down place. There are tables and chairs, but it’s tight and when it got busy with people coming to pick up their lunch, would feel weird sitting down to eat. As it was, we just waited to pick up our food, like everyone else. Didn’t see a single person actually eating inside, though we saw a LOT of people coming to pick up lunch. Previous review stands (3/25/2022) This is another happy review.
I'm happy to report that the burgers have improved significantly since my last review 4 years ago.

Korean BBQ
They toned down on the shredded cabbage and the sauce in the korean bbq burger. Everything balanced out much better than what I remember, and I could actually taste the kimchi inside this time. The meat was cooked to a nice medium, and travelled well in our to-go order.

Soft Shell Crab
They put two whole deep fried soft shell crabs in one burger. Topped off with a lot of arugula, bacon and tomatoes. It was good, but not quite as balanced out as the Korean BBQ burger. I'm not quite sure what it is... Lacking some sauce?

Overall, the place had some great burgers and I would definitely go back more often that I have recently. But there's a little bit missing still to give it a whopping 5 star review. Plus the buns were really bready... a little less dough would have been nice. And on the downside... the fries weren't awesome. They were ok. But felt more like baked fries than deep fried.

In any case, I love improvements and having great joints in my neighborhood. Thank you Crave Cafe!

Been by here dozens of times. Saw an article in the Journal Sentinel, claiming that their burgers were some of the best in the area. So I had to go. Took a friend. We got their right at opening, 11:30. Got some help ordering from a couple of excited veteran customers. They claimed that we would not be disappointed. The person behind the counter was super friendly. We got the Crave Burger, and a regular hamburger. Ordered mine medium-rare, and it was done to perfection. I was one of the tastiest, juiciest burgers that I have had. The bun, onion, truffle aioli were a great combination. There are a few tables outside, and several more outside on a patio. It was hot out, so we grabbed an inside table. It was a bit noisy in side, but we could still hold a conversation. I would definitely go back. Yum :)

Wow, amazing burgers. Grabbed the Korean BBQ burger on a whim to kill a hangover and was thoroughly impressed. Cajun fries are killer too, the “small” fry was large to me. I’ll definitely be back to try more off their creative menu. Highly recommend as a hole in the wall burger joint with flair.

Crave Cafe is easily the best burger in the city and the unconventional fry toppings are so fun! All of their staff is incredibly friendly. The only thing that could make Crave better is the ability to order online (but that come with very high fees for owners so it's totally understandable if they never add it).

This place appears unassuming both inside and out. But, the food was absolutely delicious and for such a great price. Most burgers are in the $9-10 range. I got the Korean Burger and a side of Cajun fries. Both were insanely good — next time I’m going to have to try the Katsu sandwich or Softshell Crab BLT.
